John T. Ayers Fire Instructor of the Year Award
This highly coveted award is offered annually to a New Hampshire fire instructor who's personal attributes and contributions to fire training have set them apart from their peers. The award is given out at our annual dinner and business meeting, which is traditionally held in April of each year.
NH Fire Standards & Training Commission
FIOANH has a representative on the NH Fire Standards and Training Commission that is charged with representing the interests of the members. The Commission is responsible for establishing the minimum training and entrance testing requirements for full-time firefighters, and for approving curricula for all types of firefighter training. Commission members also serve as advisors to the Director of the NH Fire Academy on important fire service issues. Our present Commissioner is Chief Stephen Carrier of the Tilton-Northfield Fire Department. Feel free to contact Chief Carrier with questions or suggestions relative to the Commission.
Peter Carver Mentor Leadership Program
We recently initiated this program at the NH Community Technical College - Laconia Fire Science department. This program matches interested students who are actively pursuing a career in the fire service with career professionals for a mentoring relationship. The program gives the participants an opportunity to seek career, educational, and personal advice which will hopefully lead to greater potential for personal growth and success. Valuable insight concerning career planning, entrance testing, further education, and the inner workings of a career in the fire service may be gained by talking with experienced professionals.
Newsletters
We publish a quarterly newsletter that contains association news, training tips, professional development articles, articles and information submitted by members, and upcoming training and networking opportunities.
The Board of Directors is receptive to suggestions from the membership regarding our member services and communications. Feel free to contact any member of the Board of Directors with comments or suggestions. |
