The meeting was called to order by President Mason at 1922 hours.
Following a salute to the flag and a moment of silence, a quorum call was taken.
Welcoming everyone was the Host, Chief Michael Walker, who thanked all for coming, especially the spouses and guests. He also wished everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day
Retired Deputy Chief Richard Vinal of Pelham was presented his NHAFC Life Membership card, and also items from the Pelham Fire Department.
Advocate Members in attendance: George Krause of Globe Firefighter Suits.
The on duty shift of the PFD was introduced.
Director Mason asked that all of the guests/spouses be introduced from each table.
The minutes of the January meeting were printed and available. A MOTION (Vinal/Walker) to dispense with reading until the next regular meeting, carried unanimously.
Deputy Carrier read the financial report. A MOTION (Bliss/Gagnon) to accept it carried unanimously.
Applications for Membership: Chief Lemire read five applications for first reading.
Director Mason stated that the meeting will have an abbreviated format this evening, and reported on the Board of Directors meeting February 5, giving a synopsis of the meeting and the topics covered.
Chief Carrier, for the Professional Development Committee, reported on the Retirement System presentation being held at the Bedford meeting on March 13. He also reported on the seminars sponsored by the NHAFC and FIOANH upcoming and the NEDIAFC. He also reported on the quarterly meeting upcoming and the plans for the conference in Springfield. He also reported on the IAFC conference in Denver in August.
Chief Murray for the Legislative Committee, reported on the status of the several bills. He highlighted the major areas of concern, especially the Retirement Coalition activities, and indicated that a list of them will be available for those who wanted.
Chief Roger Bradley suggested that Chief Murray be given a round of applause for Shawn’s efforts and it was given.
Former Fire Marshal Don Bliss was recognized and wished a Happy Birthday.
Forest Protection Chief Brad Simpkins reported on:
- Dates and locations of Spring training sessions will be sent out soon. He described the content of the sessions.
- Out of state crews working already.
- The Ranger vacancies and the potential impact of the Governor’s freeze on the fire towers.
Chief Lambert, from the NEAFC, reported that the quarterly meeting was upcoming and that he would have further info after that. He also indicated that Chief Comeau would not be seeking reelection and that anyone interested please notify him.
Director Mason reported that Hal Bruno has retired as Chair of the Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial.
He also named an Audit Committee: Chiefs Williams, Simpkins, and Marshal Degnan.

Following the raffle, a motion to adjourn carried unanimously at 2007 hours.
