President Mason called the meeting to order at 18:48 hours.

Following a salute to the flag and a moment of silence, a quorum was declared.

Chief Chris Christopoulus welcomed the members and guests to Lebanon and thanked people for attending the day of golf.

Advocate member Gary Shelton was recognized from Station House Supply/The Fire Barn.

Several guests were introduced. Lebanon City Council Member Karen Liot-Hill, Candidate for US Senate Jay Buckey, Lebanon Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Libbey and Tim Elliot of the Dartmouth College Interactive Media Lab and Bureau Chief Suzanne Prentiss’s Daughter.

The minutes of the August meeting were printed and available. A MOTION (Phillips/Taylor) to accept them as amended to show the corrected name of Chief Steve Carrier and the Date of the LGC Conference from November (8) eighth to the (13) thirteenth carried unanimously.

Treasurer Martin Carrier presented the financial report for August. A MOTION (Christopoulus/Nelson) to accept his report, carried unanimously.
President Mason reported that:

• President Mason presented Commissioner John Barthelmes with an Honorary Membership.
• First Firefighter Memorial Service on October 14, 2007 @ 2:00 pm at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial on the Fire Academy Grounds

• Several Legislative Bills will be discussed on 9/13/07, which include the New Michaels Law, Mutual Aid, Two in –Two out Firefighter safety requirements and personnel from the EMS community being a part of the PSOB. Chief Murray is our Legislative Chairman.
• Executive Board will meet on 9/21/07 with PFFNH at the Bedford Village Inn for a Retreat.
• Boards and Commission appointments.

              Ron Deblois, Voluntary Certification of Portable Fire Extinguishers and
                  Fixed Extinguishing Systems

• November 8, the NHAFC will participate in the Local Government Center conference, making a presentation.
• Homeland Grants Meeting  on 
• The Board will be reviewing the By-Laws and suggestions to be given to Chief Frank Fraitzl of Milford.
• The Association sent letters of endorsement for James Burns for Chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
• Board vote to apply for tax exempt status. Going forward at present.
• Five Directors that sit on the Executive Committee – Chief Jeff Burr has been elected Chairman of the Board

Chief Shawn Murray, for the Legislative Committee, reported that membership on the committee is open and solicited volunteers. He highlighted achievements of last year’s session and encouraged participation.

President Mason, reporting for the Fire Standards, Training & EMS Division reported on:

• Fire Academy operations
• Female academy program
• C2F2 starting next Monday

Bureau Chief Sue Prentiss reported on the status of TEMSIS reporting system and the status of its usage. She also encouraged members with EMS issues to report them and to attend the informational sessions upcoming.
State Fire Marshal William Degnan reported on:

• Fireworks inspector position needing clarification
• Receipt of an earmark grant for evidence storage units
• Fires in various locations and status of investigations.
• Work on electronic standards for consumer products

Forest Protection Chief Brad Simpkins reported on the fire activity in New Hampshire and also that of other states. NH has sent over 70 firefighters out of state for mutual assistance so far. He also reported on the upcoming training sessions and that today is Smokey Bear’s 63rd birthday.

Deputy Martin Carried, for the NVFC, reported that they will be holding their fall meeting in Warwick, RI in September. He also described legislative efforts on retention and recruitment in the volunteer and call departments and move to make benefits allotted to them tax free. He is not confident that the language of the bill will be palatable to the entire Congress.

Chief Carrier, for the NEDIAFC reported that:

• October 18 & 19, 2007 in Quincy, MA, a residential sprinkler seminar will be sponsored by the division
• FRI – August 22 – 25 in Atlanta. See Steve for luncheon tickets.

Chief Bradley, IAFC Director asked the cost of the seminar. Chief Carrier stated that there will be none, due to the receipt of a grant for the first 60 participants who sign up.
Under New Business, Marshal Degnan announced an event on October 10 at the State House to commemorate Fire Prevention Week.

Under Good and Welfare, Chief Lambert asked about a Retirement Coalition. President Mason reported that the Strategic Alliance has forwarded names to the Governor for a group to work on those issues.

Deputy Carrier reported on a meeting of the NFPA Technical on Forest Protection will be meeting in Manchester.

The second Sunday of October has been determined as NH Fallen Firefighter Memorial Sunday and a program will be held at the memorial.

Following the raffle, the meeting was adjourned at 1944 hours.
