Municipal Advocacy

Municipal advocacy and government affairs are the primary focus of the New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA). Advocacy activities are overseen by the Municipal Advocacy Committee (MAC). The 75-member Committee on Government Affairs (CGA) is responsible for recommending legislative policy positions to the NHMA membership at the biennial Legislative Policy Conference and for providing support during the legislative session. Both MAC and CGA are committees of elected and appointed local officials of member municipalities from across the state. NHMA member interests are represented before the New Hampshire General Court and state agencies by three full-time government affairs attorneys.

The NHMA 2009-2010 Legislative Policy Process is underway. Details are available via the link below.

NHMA publishes the Legislative Bulletin each Friday during the legislative session.

The New Hampshire legislative process is explained in the NHMA article, Understanding the Legislative Process.
