The Local Government Center produces a series of educational and informational publications throughout the year. Educational publications, usually prepared to support Local Government Center training programs for local officials, provide up-to-date information on many issues affecting local government in New Hampshire. LGC informational publications, updated annually, provide local officials with valuable contact information, critical dates and data needed to stay on track throughout the year.

Knowing the Territory
A Survey of Municipal Law for New Hampshire Local Officials

This informative book is updated annually for the spring Local Officials Workshop series and provides an overview of local government in New Hampshire. Knowing the Territory includes chapters on understanding the law, employment issues, the state/municipal relationship, the role of selectmen, right-to-know issues, public safety and more. The 2008 edition contains a new chapter, Trusts, Reserve Funds and the Role of Trustees. (212 pages)
