About Us

The New Hampshire Building Officials Association is an organization comprised of Building Officials throughout the state. We stand ready to help any community in the development of a building department to enforce the state building codes, as provided in RSA 674:51. These codes are nationally developed minimal standards for the protection of public safety, health, and welfare, from the hazards of fire or other dangers resulting from unsound construction practices.

The building department, in most communities, can be a self-supporting department and therefore not a tax burden. The expertise necessary to maintain such a department is minimal and training is available locally at our monthly meetings and area workshops. We also have developed a manual to assist communities in starting and maintaining a building department as well as a mentorship program to help in this process. The mentorship program connects your community with a building official in your area who is experienced in code enforcement.
