GIS 101: Learning to Map in the Digital Age
9am to noon - Durham, NH

Participants learn the basics of Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping software and discover a variety of free GIS programs (for PC's and Macs). Useful as a comfortable first step for people with no GIS experience, as well as for relatively new GIS users looking for more information. The course will give you a solid background on GIS concepts and the range of free software mapping options you can use to make maps in your community and beyond.
This workshop is the ideal starting point for those new to GIS, and provides a good leaping off point for our other workshops on free GIS software (GIS on Pennies a Day: Test Drive), ESRI software (ArcGIS Drivers Permit (10.0)), and Google mapping (Making Maps the Google Way).

Getting to Know ArcGIS Online
1pm to 4pm - Durham, NH

This hands-on training will introduce students to ESRI's new online mapping service, ArcGIS Online. The training will explore the ready to use maps available and also explore the basic functionality of the applications.

This workshop will explore the mapping and querying tools of the ArcGIS Explorer Online application and the ArcGIS Viewer application. We will also focus on the maps available in New Hampshire and on creating your own maps. You will create your own maps, your own data and share these maps via email, Facebook, Twitter or embed the code into your own website.

This course is intended for those who work with geographic data, but requires only a modest level of technical skill. No prior GIS knowledge is necessary!

Make great online maps with little work (even with your own data!)
