Prescription Drug Program
With industry-leading clinical and health management programs, specialty pharmacy expertise and customer service excellence, CVS/Caremark is LGC HealthTrust’s partner of choice for pharmacy benefit management. Our CVS Caremark/LGC HealthTrust partnership aims to improve access while promoting better health outcomes and controlling costs.
The following two pharmacy coverages are available through LGC HealthTrust:
Short-Term Prescriptions
Short-term prescription drugs are those issued in a 34-day supply or less. LGC HealthTrust makes several options available. Members can elect from varying levels of cost structures, plans that offer one standard copayment (no matter the type of medication being purchased) or copayments structured to incent generic medication usage.
Long-Term Medication
Since 1989, LGC HealthTrust has offered its members a mail service prescription drug program as a part of all LGC HealthTrust medical plans. The mail service plan offers convenient home delivery for up to a 90-day supply of maintenance medication taken on an on-going or long-term basis. In addition, CVS/Caremark’s website offers members a variety of ways to obtain refills or fill new prescriptions and one convenient location to manage their prescription benefits.
Due to the large volume of medication purchased through the mail service setting, and CVS/Caremark’s aggressive contracting, LGC HealthTrust is able to negotiate extremely competitive pricing for medication, saving our members and their covered employees money.
