Presentations
The LGC Legal Services attorneys present a wide array of educational and informational programs throughout the year.
Attorneys present a variety of LGC workshops throughout the year, including the Budget and Finance Workshop, Moderators Workshop, Preparing for a Successful Town Meeting Workshop, Local Officials Workshops and Municipal Law Lecture Series. Attorneys also present at the biannual Elected City Officials Workshop. Additionally, attorneys present a variety of programs at the LGC Annual Conference and provide training via the online LGC Academy. Visit the Training and Events section of this website for details.
LGC staff attorneys often participate in other educational programs, such as the Selectperson Institute, and are invited to speak at conferences and events for many LGC Affiliate Groups, including the New Hampshire Building Officials Association and New Hampshire Local Welfare Administrators Association, and for outside agencies, such as the state Department of Environmental Services and Office of Energy and Planning.
In addition to these more formal workshops and seminars, LGC attorneys are available to travel upon request to member municipalities for more focused presentations. Past on-site presentations have included the Right to Know Law, land use board issues, road law, conflicts of interest and ethics. Local presentations should be organized, hosted and advertised by an official of a member municipality. We require a minimum attendance of 20 and request that officials of neighboring municipalities be invited to the presentation. Requests for such sessions are accommodated to the extent possible based on staff availability. While sessions may be open to the public at the discretion of the municipality, LGC Legal Services attorneys are only able to answer questions from municipal officials. Requests should be directed to the attorneys well in advance of the desired date by phone at 800.852.3358, ext. 384, or via e-mail to legalinquiries@nhlgc.org.
